Abbey of Arthous Kids Entertainment in Hastingues

Once upon a time there was Arthous, a curious abbey hidden among the trees, between Landes, Basque Country and Béarn. Walk in the footsteps of those who have occupied it over time: canons, farmers, archaeologists, scientists, artists... Hunt fantastic animals.

Visit Arthous Abbey - signatory of the Mom'Art charter - and set off on the cultural games trail to visit while having fun.

In addition to an interactive exhibition that sheds light on preconceived ideas about the Middle Ages, Arthous can be visited in a connected way thanks to the Guidigo application!

• “Measures & Démesure Exhibition-event at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie – from April 2 to November 3, 2024

Alternating heritage exhibition and artistic exhibition, Arthous Abbey will host in 2024 the works of Lilian BOURGEAT, contemporary artist, whose work, inspired by everyday objects on an oversized scale, questions the relationship between man and the object and its environment.

A game trail is available at reception for children aged 7 and over, to do as a family!

Family workshops!

• Giant games! Tuesdays April 16 and 23 of the Easter holidays

Open to all – from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

• Family workshop “plastic creation around the works of Lilian Bourgeat” with the association Art pour tous , Peyrehorade - Tuesday October 29 and Thursday October 31 of the All Saints' Day holidays

To learn about the history of the abbey, discover its prehistoric and medieval treasures, the ancient cells of the canons and the territory where the abbey is located: the Pays d'Orthe is offered in the form of modules by historical periods and 'a film, from prehistory to the present day.

Special children:

• A room of models to reconstruct and animal sculptures to guess with your fingertips,
• A game trail is available at reception for children aged 7 and over, to do as a family, to discover the abbey in a different way while having fun.
  

• Unusual visits on Thursday May 9, Saturday May 11 and Sunday May 12 at 3:00 p.m.
  At the end of the artistic residency of the Mastock Company from May 6 to 14: dramatized visits around the site of Arthous Abbey and the works of L. Bourgeat

• Saturday May 18 “Museum Night 2024” from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Nocturnal visit, by the light of torches and candles of the exhibition “Measures & Démesure” by the artist Lilian Bourgeat by the Arthous mediators.

• Friday August 23 and Saturday August 24 at 9:00 p.m. – NEW As part of the Nuit des Abbayes en Nouvelle-Aquitaine: unusual nighttime visits by the Mastock Company.

A quirky and funny artistic proposal that will make you (re)discover the old abbey, inhabited this year by gigantic works.
