      MEETING WITH…

April 23 at 3:00 p.m. Coline GAULOT "Throwing yourself into the Big Fire" (adults)

From the idea to the work, passing through the creation of drawings, then molds… until a porcelain installation presented at the museum, the adventure was long and perilous. This workshop is a discovery of both the work of the artist and the ancestral process that is porcelain, offered through the experimental work of the visual artist. Step by step, the participant sees and tests the gestures and paths of this achievement.

Philippe MEYZIE Tastes, cuisine and products from the South-West. Between rootedness and openness (18th-20th centuries)

In France, regional cuisines and so-called local products are enjoying great success today. They are surrounded by an imagination that often refers to the peasant world and an immutable past through notions such as authenticity, tradition, local know-how, etc. Through the example of the Southwest, this conference will offer a long-term historical approach to understanding how a regional food culture is shaped around emblematic products, recognized know-how and shared flavors. Far from being static, the diet of the South-West, from Périgord to the Basque Country, has undergone significant transformations according to trade, the dynamics of society and changes in the countryside. If the resources of forests, rivers, the ocean and agricultural land take a place of choice in the gastronomy of the South-West, it has also been able to feed on multiple influences that are sometimes distant. Consequently, the cuisine of the South-West also appears as a reflection of openness, exchanges and modernity.

The entrance fee is about €4.50 and less if you are young. The museum is small, but it is fine if you like ceramics and its history. The gift area needs to have more diversity, since they hardly had magnets or souvenirs from the area. They give you some sheets with different languages, including French, English, Spanish... and they have different rooms, one of them for a temporary exhibition. They also have perfume smells that you can try as you change rooms (although with smells that are not very recommended) hahahaha but you have to try everything. It was fun overall

Very interesting museum, beautiful exhibitions, the person who paints is a paid artist. Only Bénol for me displays the entry price, is not the same as what we pay at the checkout. To visit you will find tableware from our ancestors
