    • In the heart of the Landes region, Samadet has left its mark on the Tursan region, building its centuries-old reputation around the "Royal Earthenware Factory" created in 1732 by the Abbot of Roquépine. Discover the trades, some little-known and others long gone, such as the painter, the turner, the molder, the lime burner, the empernetter, and the handler, who worked and demonstrated all their expertise so that this earthenware factory prospered and shone far beyond our borders for 100 years.

Come and admire the panorama of Samadet productions at the Departmental Museum of Earthenware and Tableware in Samadet and appreciate the finesse of the decorations and objects that have become collections.

      • From earthenware to the pleasures of the table, there is only one step...

Next, discover how tastes and table manners evolve over the centuries and with lifestyles. Travel through time and explore the world of tableware with table settings, interviews, short films, and olfactory experiences.

      • EXHIBITION “ABSOLUTELY CERAMIC! LOUIS DAGE (1885-1961)

From February 15, 2025, the Departmental Museum of Earthenware and Tableware opens for the second year the exhibition entitled:

      "Absolutely ceramic! Louis Dage (1885-1961)"

In 2024, the museum presents the first exhibition dedicated to Louis Dage, a little-known local ceramist who worked from 1935 to 1961 at the Faïencerie de l'Adour in Saint-Sever. Painted motifs, drips, cracks, inlays, and overlays: Louis Dage's eclectic output is nothing short of astonishing. It can be explained by an insatiable taste for experimentation, combined with an atypical personal journey.

The ceramist discovered his passion for earthenware arts at the age of 13, amidst the artistic excitement of the Art Nouveau movement in Lille. After the First World War, he opened two workshops in the Paris region and mass-produced Art Deco ceramics sold in department stores. In full professional growth in Paris during the Roaring Twenties, Louis Dage abruptly left the capital to settle in the Landes region: a new love, a new beginning. There, he produced original pieces inspired by Samadet earthenware, while pursuing a highly varied artistic work on enamels.

Through 160 pieces by Louis Dage from an exceptional private collection, enriched with ceramics by great masters on loan from the Musée national de la Céramique in Sèvres, the public is invited to discover a rich body of work, imbued with the artistic innovations of the first half of the 20th century.
