    • A museum, an archaeological activity park and a prehistoric site:

The museum presents archaeological remains discovered on the archaeological site of the Pope's caves, such as ornaments, engravings, bones of prehistoric animals and casts of statuettes discovered in Brassempouy and in Europe.

Several guided tours are offered every day with visits suitable for children (from 6 years old). During these visits, discover the history of these caves occupied for nearly 30,000 years by our ancestors. Also discover the history of the most famous statuette in the collection, the Lady with the Hood (kept at the Saint-Germain-en-Laye archeology museum), the Mona Lisa of Prehistory, known as the oldest representation of a human face.

Continue your immersion in the ArchéoParc , where every day the mediators present demonstrations of flint knapping and fire lighting, also learn about prehistoric hunting!

Discover the environment and animals of the Ice Age with reconstructions of habitats and animals and real living aurochs!

      New!

The archaeological site of the Pope's caves is open to visits (by reservation only). We offer two visit options, one with quick access (car, from February to November) and the other via the cave trail (hiking, from April to September).

We spent the entire day on site with our 5 years old son. We took the 3 activities package which are worth it. If you don’t take any activities, you won’t have much to do there. The staff was really knowledgeable and helpful. If you go there on aMonday, the cafe on site is closed but there is a farm 1 km away where you can have a great lunch.

Fascinating place with really knowledgeable staff who are passionate about the site and it's history. We look forward to going back when the grotto is open to the public. Only marked 4 stars as the grotto wasn't open, but it is well worth a visit.

I never knew that such carvings from this period existed. Excellent tour and in a very pretty village not far from where I was staying at Marpaps.
