Spring holidays: Tourist sites to see the first buds

Starting signal ! It's spring and with it, sweetness returns. The sun isn't quite here yet, but we have faith, it will come back for good! Whether you are on vacation in the Landes or simply on a weekend , do you want to take advantage of this plant renewal to soak up flowers , buds and take out the picnic blanket ? We have selected some ideas for walks for you, to enjoy nature waking up and listening to the little birds sing.

Stroll through beautiful gardens

The Landes department owes its name to its vegetation and especially to its forest, which is the largest in France. It covers more than half of the department and is made up of conifers including maritime pine. If this landscape changes little from one season to the next (apart from the ferns and a few other species which survive on the sandy and acidic soil at the foot of the pines), this is not the case of Chalosse , a more hilly and vegetal part of the department, where crops and a few vines green the landscape. Near the sea, the natural environment is made up of short vegetation and plants whose purpose is to retain the dune and stabilize the sand. To enjoy spring in full swing, we have selected for you some tourist sites ideal for plant immersion !

If you are near Brassempouy, don't miss a visit to a very beautiful museum space , in a green setting : the Musée de la Dame. You will learn a lot about regional archaeological discoveries, and life in the region in prehistoric times . During the holidays and in the summer, cultural mediators are present to offer workshops to young and old. Hiking tours are organized from the village, to take full advantage of the spring that is waking up in this pretty region.

From April 10, Au Paradis du Papillon welcomes you near Sanguinet , to discover dozens of species of butterflies from all over the world. A children's play area and picnic tables are available to enjoy a nice half-day with family or friends.

In Gaujacq , we offer you the discovery of the Château de Gaujacq, a site dating from the 17th century, consisting of a sumptuous Italian palace , decorated with very beautiful furniture. All around the villa, a charming garden in all elegance and simplicity. A unique place to visit, a stroll through time, alongside François de Sourdis who ordered the construction of this castle.

In Mimizan, near the beach this time, near Lake Aureilhan, come and discover a magnificent flowered walk. A trail laid out with 400 species of flowers over 300 meters. Accessible for free and in all seasons, it is a perfect place to see nature in full awakening ! Still in Mimizan, take advantage of the L’Etang de la Mailloueyre discovery trail. A walk around a 3kg pond, to observe the local fauna and flora.

Outdoor activities to enjoy nature

Sporty, calm or relaxing, there are plenty of activities to do outside, in the middle of the greenery to enjoy the warm weather.

Are you coming to the region for several days ? Why not rent a bike and take a greenway for several kilometers ? And if you don't have a bike, you can rent one, for example from A Bicyclette in Lit-et-Mixe, where Pierrick will be happy to show you his bicycle museum !

In Moliets et Maa, to have a good time with the family and to delight the children on a beautiful sunny day, meet at the Adrénaline Parc. There you will find an adventure park, a paintball course, a quad and mini motorbike circuit for the enjoyment of all. In the middle of the pines , you are good ! In summer, a refreshment bar and a snack bar are open, the rest of the year don't hesitate to take your picnic basket !
