1 - Enjoy the beaches

Begin your stay by relaxing on the magnificent beaches of Mimizan. With miles of fine sand and a mighty ocean, you'll have the opportunity to swim, surf, stroll along the coastline, or simply relax and soak up the sun. There are no less than 7 beaches in Mimizan!

2 - Take the flowery promenade path

It is the ideal place to relax between the beach and the lake, while enjoying a beautiful flowered path laid out by the municipality. Everyone can do it and you can even, if you want, continue by going around the lake (the Aureilhan Pond Circuit, count a good 3 hours)!

Do you like walking? In Mimizan you can also follow the Etang de la Mailloueyre discovery trail (fr), which will take you to a Natura 2000 zone-type reserve. Less than 4 km away and an observatory available with a beautiful view of the forest and the beach. Perfect for children.

3 - The priory museum

For lovers of architecture and religious art, the Priory Museum is an exceptional heritage that bears witness to the know-how of medieval image-makers. We recommend that you opt for the guided tour, to understand the quality of the frescoes and the portal and its tympanum.

4 - Take a bike ride in Mimizan

Mimizan is a paradise for cyclists. Rent a bike and go on an adventure along the cycle paths that criss-cross the region. Explore the surroundings, drive along the coast or discover the picturesque villages nearby. This activity will allow you to fully enjoy the natural beauty of Mimizan.

In the extension of the Vélodyssée which passes by there, you will take the cycle path of the coast (fr) to go from one beach to another or just take a bike ride on the wooded path. You can also take a bike ride to the pond of Mimizan and Bias (fr), about 7km of track. Ask for the piste map at the Tourist Office!

5 - Relax at Lake Aureilhan

Located a few kilometers from Mimizan, Lake Aureilhan offers a peaceful setting to relax with family or friends. Enjoy water activities such as swimming, canoeing or windsurfing. The shores of the lake are also suitable for picnics and leisurely walks.

6 - Discover the Mailloueyre pond

A discovery trail is found at the Maillouyre pond, 12 kilometers of happiness in a Natura 2000 classified area. A shady place for hot days and a change of scenery. At the end of the walk, a nice belvedere in a quiet area.

7 - Taste the local specialties

Take advantage of your visit to Mimizan to taste the delicious culinary specialties of the region. Taste the fresh seafood, dishes based on duck or chicken from the Landes, without forgetting the famous pastis landais, a traditional pastry not to be missed.

8 - Participate in water activities

Mimizan is an ideal place for water sports enthusiasts. Try surfing, sailing, paddleboarding or kitesurfing. The water sports schools on the beach offer lessons and equipment rentals for all levels.

9 - Attend local events

If your visit coincides with one of the many events organized in Mimizan, do not miss the opportunity to participate. Whether it's a music festival, a craft market or a traditional celebration, these events will immerse you in the local culture and allow you to experience unique moments. 10 - Shopping and Markets in Mimizan

Want to bring back some nice clothes, in summer colors, which smell good of the ocean, the surf, the holidays? The Center of Mimizan awaits you for a little shopping. At the end of the day, a granita in hand, it's paradise. Stop for a drink on the terrace to a musical background, eat a good dish in a restaurant, have a drink with friends… You will find souvenirs, local artisanal products, food products (caterer, butcher, charcuterie, fishmonger, supermarkets…), but also ready-to-wear and all amenities.

The Mimizan market takes place every Friday morning. Every Thursday there is also a seasonal market in summer in Mimizan-Plage. Tuesday and Saturday in summer, there is a craft night market on the Place du Marché.
